@discountdyke there r animals it’s just that our largest predators (bears, wolves, lynxes) have all been extinct for centuries 😔 wolves were hunted to extinction in the 17th century, and bears and lynxes were driven to extinction in the middle ages with bears being hunted and lynxes losing their habitats.
there’s a bizarrely large amount of people who think this is something to flex about and not a horrendous tragedy and that somehow our declining wildlife populations are a good thing, which is also why despite there being ecological benefits to reintroducing them there are no current plans to do so and previous plans have been rejected.
The good news is there are efforts being made to rewild britain, while previous plans to reintroduce lynxes got rejected people haven’t given up! and Rewilding Britain has successfully done things like reintroducing pine martins and beavers so here’s hoping they have more success from here on out

blood being frequently described as having a “coppery smell” in fiction is kind of funny considering that there is a metallic component to blood and it’s not copper
in fact if your blood smells or tastes like copper you probably have more urgent things to worry about than it being outside your body. it’s probably better that it’s not inside you anymore actually.
